Hard Drives data recovery

Clicking, beeping, silent or simply not detected – failed hard drives are our most common recovery job. Most are recoverable when they are switched off early.

Hard Drives data recovery

Why hard drives fail

A hard drive reads data with heads that float a few nanometres above spinning platters. Wear, knocks and power surges can damage the heads, motor or circuit board, and once the heads fail the drive often clicks or beeps. Firmware faults can make a healthy drive appear blank or report the wrong size.

How we recover them

We clone the drive sector by sector using hardware imagers that cope with weak heads and bad sectors, then rebuild the file system from the copy. Drives with mechanical damage are opened only in clean-room conditions, where we replace heads or move platters to a working donor mechanism.

Common questions

My drive is clicking. Should I keep trying?

No. Switch it off. Every attempt can scratch the platters and reduce what can be recovered.

Do I need to send the cable or enclosure?

Send external drives complete. For internal drives, just the drive.

Can I post my drive to you?

Yes, using our insured courier service from anywhere in the UK.

Get a price from a technician

Tell us the make, the model and what has gone wrong. A technician replies with a price and the quickest way to sort it – normally the same working day.
