About the OptiPlex 3040 / 5040 / 7040

The Dell OptiPlex 3040 / 5040 / 7040 was sold in 2016, in Tower, SFF, Micro versions, and uses Intel Core 6th gen processors. It belongs to the OptiPlex Desktops range, and we keep or source parts for every common repair.

Its processor is not on Microsoft’s Windows 11 supported list, and Windows 10 support ended in October 2025. We can advise on keeping it secure, alternatives such as ChromeOS Flex or Linux, or whether replacement makes more sense.
